About

Yael Aloni-Netzer is a New York City–based ceramic artist, handbuilding one-of-a-kind pieces through coiling and slab techniques.

She studied interior design at Parsons and practiced monoprinting before turning to ceramics. Her passion for design developed an attention to form, function, and composition, and clay introduced a more immediate and physical way of making.

Each work is unique, some belong to a series, yet all part of a larger, evolving expressive language.

Artist Statement

“I allow an initial idea to develop through the building itself, embracing the imperfection and variation that emerge through the process.”

I treat texture and glaze as extensions of the piece rather than surface decoration alone, becoming part of its physical character. Some pieces retain a relationship to everyday use, while others explore clay as a purely sculptural medium.

Across both, I am drawn to irregular volumes, textured surfaces, and organic forms that recall landscapes, growth, and other natural processes.
